The stars have gone out
The Great Lantern of Hearthstead has gone dark. You wake up on a beach with Pip, a little lantern sprite who has lost its glow too. Together you'll build a home, make friends in the villages, and set off on an adventure to bring the stars back.
A world to build in
Every block can be broken and placed. Build houses and towers, farms and gardens, rails and machines that light up. Grassy plains, snowy mountains, deserts, jungles and deep caves wait to be explored.
A story that guides, never pushes
Pip floats over your shoulder, shows the way when you want it and cheers you on. Eleven chapters lead from your first shelter to the Ember Deep and the islands at the edge of the world. Turn the story off any time and just build.
Every line is spoken
Pip, the Elder and the village chiefs talk out loud, so even children who aren't reading yet know what to do. The game waits while they listen, and every line can be heard again.
Friends and villages
Trade with villagers, help the chiefs with their requests, tame animals, ride horses, sail boats and keep a logbook of everything you discover.
Play together at home
Friends join your world over your home network. No accounts, no internet, no strangers.
On a screen or in VR
Play on a Windows PC with keyboard and mouse or a controller, step inside with a PC VR headset, or play standalone on Meta Quest. In English and Romanian.
Made for children, set by grown-ups
- The game never goes online. No adverts, nothing to buy, no links out of the game, and no personal data collected. Text chat only reaches friends playing on your home network, with a rude-word filter, and parents can switch it off. Read the privacy policy.
- A profile for each child with gentle limits: items kept after fainting, soft monsters or none, no fire spreading.
- Parent Settings, protected by a PIN, change what each profile may do.
- Gentle by design: gentle boss fights, an always-daytime option, colour-friendly signs, and a game that waits for slow readers.
