Terms of Service
Effective 9 October 2026
- You may play HearthBuilders for your own enjoyment and with your family and friends at home.
- Please don't copy, resell or share the game itself.
- The worlds you build are yours to keep.
- Your rights as a consumer under the law of your country always apply.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
HearthBuilders (the "game") is made by Compass Software ("we", "us"). These terms apply to the game on every platform it's available on, and to this website. You can reach us at contact@compass-software.ro.
By installing or playing the game you agree to these terms. If a child plays, a parent or guardian accepts these terms on the child's behalf and decides how the child plays, for example through the game's Parent Settings.
2. Getting the game
You get the game from a store, such as Steam or the Meta Horizon Store. Your purchase, payment, refunds and your store account are handled by that store under its own terms and policies. The game has nothing to buy inside it.
3. Your licence to play
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install the game on devices you own or control, and to play it for your own non-commercial use. This includes playing together with family and friends on your home network. The game is licensed, not sold: we and our licensors keep all rights in it, including its code, art, music, voices and story.
4. What you may not do
- Copy, sell, rent, lend or share the game or its files, except as your store allows.
- Change, decompile or take apart the game, except where the law allows it despite this term.
- Use the game's art, music, voices or characters outside the game for commercial purposes.
- Remove any copyright or other notices from the game.
Taking pictures and videos of your own play and sharing them, for example in a school project or a video, is welcome, as long as you don't claim the game as your own.
5. Your worlds
The worlds you build are saved on your own device, and you're free to keep, copy and enjoy them. We don't collect them. The privacy policy explains what the game keeps and sends.
6. Playing together at home
The game lets players on the same home network join each other's worlds and send short text messages to each other. Please be kind to the people you play with. The host decides who may join, and a parent can switch joining and chat off, or filter rude words, in Parent Settings.
7. Health and safety
Take regular breaks. If you play in virtual reality, follow your headset maker's safety and age guidance, keep your play area clear, and stop at once if you feel unwell, dizzy or uncomfortable. Young children should play with a grown-up nearby.
8. Updates
We may release updates that fix problems or add or change features. Some updates may be needed to keep playing with friends who have the newest version.
9. Our responsibility
We work hard to make the game safe and enjoyable, and we'll do our best to fix problems you tell us about. The game is provided as it is and as available, to the extent the law allows, and we can't promise it will always be free of errors or work on every device.
To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility where the law doesn't allow that, for example for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer, including your rights if the game is faulty.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using the game at any time by uninstalling it. If you seriously break these terms, your licence to use the game ends.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll publish the new version on this page with its effective date. If a change would affect you significantly, we'll make it clear in the game's update notes.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Romania. If you live elsewhere, you still keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a problem, please write to us first: most things can be solved quickly.
